July 2009

July progressive day.

The last progressive day was excellent thanks to a good roll up, glorious weather and the generous hospitality of our hosts. Thankyou to Jason for a delicious lunch of baked potatoes and a wonderful array of accompaniments. Thankyou also to Pat and Trish and girls for a fine afternoon tea and a chance to meet (as Kevin S put it) their new arrivals - vw wise that is! Report by Wendy A.

June 2009

June progressive day.

Thankyou to our hosts for the progressive day in June. Dean and Helen H. turned on a splendid cooked breakfast complete with heat, Volkswagen flag flying high and shed full of interesting bits and pieces. Muriel and Kaye had a delicious array of soups and Geoff entertained for the whole two hours with his talented and varied repertoire on the organ. And at the afternoon tea it was Laura's VW iced shortbreads that were the highlight. Report by Wendy A.

Woop Woop

What a place! What can I say? Someone has had some time on their hands here. It was interesting, quirky, Australian, occasionally a little risqué and quite funny. We had an excellent roll up and cruised along a section of the freeway to Woop Woop (Harcourt) and after an educational visit, finished the afternoon off with scones and jam and cream. April 2009

Photo's by John F. VWCV Bug-In Easter 2009.

I think everybody involved in the Bug-In felt it was a huge success. The weather was perfect, there where Volkswagens galore, friendships were made and renewed and it was an event filled weekend. Report by Wendy A.

It started with afternoon tea and the welcome diner at the Foundry hotel on Good Friday. Both sides of Shamrock St were lined with Volkswagens; it was a most unusual sight. An auction held during the evening meal raised over $1,000. I know one bloke who bid on a cap which was won by somebody else. This bloke offered the winning bidder another ten dollars but his offer was refused. The following day whenever this bloke saw the winning bidder he gave him a dark look and some cheek, but on Sunday the bidder kindly gave this bloke the cap, refusing any payment. Thanks Boris.

Saturday saw the Show and Shine perfectly placed in Bridge St, with a terrific turnout of cars and heaps of pedestrians. Afterwards some went out to the Bendigo Pottery and I understand there were some odd looking pots thrown that day. That evening a number of people met for pizza at Tony's on High.

Sunday morning was coffee at the Beechworth Bakery as well as the motocross and motorkhana at Bagshot. There was plenty of dust at the latter. The day finished with the Presentation Dinner at the All Seasons. Pat C. represented our Club. He wanted a joke that combined Bendigo, VW's and Irish humour, but couldn't find one, so being a resourceful fellow, made one up! Well done Pat.

Monday's procession was probably the highlight of the whole weekend. The twelve cars chosen to take part, plus Herbie (no VW parade is complete without a Herbie!) looked fantastic. Afterwards people dropped by for a relaxed afternoon tea at Lake Weeroona hosted by our club.

Easter Breakfast

The Easter bunny remembered to drop by the White Hills gardens earlier this month. Thanks to the end  of daylight saving everyone had an extra hour of sleep that morning and it turned out to be a prefect autumn day. Vicki S. had a beaut colouring activity to keep the kids busy whilst the bunny did his thing. Report by Wendy A.

March 2009

Kids run to the zone.

An awesome and tiring day out. Lots to do and fun to be had. Much enjoyed by all.

February 2009

Ice Cream Run

It was the courageous (or is that the foolhardy) who braved 42.5 degree temperatures to cruise up the highway to Echuca for ice-creams. Afterwards we rocked up at the Roberts' air-conditioned home for cold drinks and icy poles and checked out the big new shed/showroom and its amazing contents. There were lots of interesting things to look at and Michael and Bill were happy to discuss all things VW. Report by Wendy A.

Billy cart Derby 2008

A great day had by all, with Rhett taking first place, Darren S 2nd and Roger Y 3rd.

Chris A had the fastest time of 1:10.19 but his triumph was short lived after it was discovered that he had a bit of help at the top of the hill.
